Pope Benedict in his encyclical Caritas in Veritate asks us to make connections between U.S. economic policies, military involvement, environmental policies, trade policies, labor policies and cultural attitudes toward women and minorities with the over-arching truth of the sacredness of life.
The truth of the sacredness of life is, of its essence, an integrating truth—a truth that is understood by the process of connection. To use one aspect of this truth to obscure other aspects is to mutilate the truth. To oppose abortion without opposing war, to oppose the weakening of family structure without opposing U.S. trade policies that undermine families and harm women and children, to fight for respect for the unborn without fighting for the rights of minorities can only diminish the expression of truth.
C.A.U.S.E. welcomes the support of anyone who is interested in finding and sharing their own integrated ways of thought and action in relation to respecting all life. We are grateful for the support we’ve already received from people of Jewish and Protestant faiths, ex-Catholics and Agnostics as well as Catholics. The main purpose of this blog at present is to provide anyone who is interested with the materials produced by C.A.U.S.E. - posters, holy cards, stickers and more.
